Arveen tell us a little bit about yourself and being a member of the Nagadoo clan?

My name is Arveen Nagadoo, manager of River Palace Racing Syndicate, aged 27, & I grew up in the Nagadoo family. Horse racing is in my blood as my dad Naveen Nagadoo & 2 uncles Praveen Nagadoo & Samraj Mahadia were jockeys, my late grandfather, Narad Ramlugun, was head groom at Martin Stable (Groom of Azul & Laldheer) & several family members who currently work as grooms in different racing stable.

What’s your plan in the near future and your view on the current state of the industry?

I took the decision to return to Mauritius to be much closer to my horses, as I really want to takeover in the future if the situation permits. I have the chance to work with V Allet Stable, but the current situation is not encouraging at the moment as unfortunately horse racing in Mauritius is purely politics rather than a sport. I wish the authorities could make horse racing SIMPLE, just the way it should be.

Twist Of Fate has brought you lots of happiness, how did you get hold of him?

Twist Of Fate was my first ever purchased, and he definitely changed my fate!! I bought him as a yearling in 2017 from Favour Stud at R30 000 only, and he turned out to be a little champion. I therefore built up River Palace Racing Syndicate, and we currently have around 30 members from Mauritius, Canada, UAE, UK, South Africa & Australia. We have been successful not only with Twist Of Fate, but we had some winners with Red Ten & Anza-Borrego. We currently own 7 horses in both Mauritius & South Africa, out of which 2 unraced babies & have registered 9 wins so far. We try to focus as much as possible on Quality than Quantity, the reason why we buy only 1 or 2 horses per year.

What are the plans for Twist Of Fate?

Twist Of Fate will turn 6 this year and logically, things won’t be easy anymore in South Africa, considering the quality of the young horses and the level of competition we have over there. I therefore decided to bring him over to Mauritius to represent our colors. Regarding his plan, I will leave that to the trainer, but without a doubt we will go for classic races.
