INTRO

We have just witnessed the darkest hours of our horse racing industry. No one would have imagined to witness such a tragedy, we have lost one of our own. Nooresh was a brilliant jockey, though not fully appreciated in Mauritius, he is fondly remembered wherever he’s been. Champion apprentice with the record of wins in a season, that in itself is a big achievement. He was recognized as a top professional, and there would have been more for him. Unfortunately, it had to end this way, words are not enough to describe how horrible it was. He’s smiling and always respectful mannerisms have been his trademark. He was proud to be represent Mauritius, and he always had the colors of the national flag on him. The incident was an unfortunate event, we cannot blame anyone. Having said that the Champ de Mars racetrack needs a good revamp, a good security assessment needs to be made, especially the crossing we need to get rid of it someway or another. Our sympathies go to his wife Chaaya, his two young sons and the family. We are sure Nooresh will ride many more winners in the skies!

RACE 1: AMANDLA

What a fantastic way to pay tribute to Nooresh, with Tejash winning the opener. We know how much Tejash is grateful to his brother, and it would be amazing to see him get that right. It is being said, it’s written in the skies for Tejash to win this one. The J M HENRY is confident for a win. The RIGHT STUFF with the plum has a very good chance to finish close. RED FORCE ONE is one for the notebook, his turn will come. EUROTEC has a good pedigree, and will run a very good race a value bet for each-way.

RACE 2: FLOWERSCAPE

TFLOWERSCAPE will prove too hot to handle, the stable is confident as well as the jockey. J.ALLYHOSSAIN will start with a bang and hoping for a treble. FLOWERSCAPE is by far the better in the lot, we can hardly see anyone go pass him. CAPTUKA will run an improved race. HEART OF DARKNESS will try a catch me if you can. The rest has a lot to prove to feature. One to watch is RUBY SPIRIT for any progress.

RACE3: NAO FAZ MAL

A very interesting race, with many contenders. APOLLO STAR run a very good race last week, will feature. BOUND BY DUTY is a consistent sort, the draw will be a problem for him. AFFRANCHI has had some good gallops in training, he is on the up. LAGACIO needs more fitness to feature, based on what he showed in training it seems unlikely for him to win but we cannot really write him off. NAO FAZ MAL has been trained to kill. J.ALLYHOSAIN is confident to bring him home, the yard likewise is very optimistic. J.ALLYHOSAIN has promised his fans, he will return with a bang.

RACE4: LICKERIO

WATCH ME DAD has been super consistent, he never set a foot wrong. It would be a fitting tribute if he wins for N.JUGLALL. He has always rated him highly, and was unlucky a couple of times. In this lot, he is far better and should get the better of this field quite easily. LICKERIO has been good in training, a bold run is expected. It seems the yard has targerted this race, and the horse is ready to strike. R.JOORAWON makes him his best chance of the day. TRIP TO THE SKY is not really fancied by the stable this time. PROMISSORY has been regular but might find it tough this time. If there will be a surprise it will be ROMAN DANCER, watchout! 

RACE 5: DYNAMITE JACK

J.ALLYHOSAID has promised at least a double for this week, DYNAMITE JACK will run a cracker. J.ALLYHOSAIN and DYNAMITE JACK make a formidable duo, and will be hard to resist. PRINCE OF PERSIA is the dark horse, if the favorite fails he will be the first one to jump on it. HUBBLE if given a soft lead will be hard to catch but it seems the yard is not very keen on him. LEMON DROP SHOT will run an improved race. TSITSIKAMMA DANCE will need this race and CHARLESTON HERO will be right in the mix.

RACE 6: MASTER JAY

A very open race with four newcomers. Out of the four, NIKHILS INN makes appeal. The new acquisitions of P.MERVEN are doing very well. S.MAHADIA has been working hard to bring his horses up to speed. It’s the stable to watch at the start of the season, many of them will cross the line first. NIKHILS INN is taken to follow the steps of G I JOE but might need this run. It will be hard for CAPTAIN GARETT to feature with an outside draw. The main threat in this race will be MASTER JAY, S.DONOHUE makes him his best chance of the day. He’s taken to follow the steps of THOMAS HENRY. S.DONOHUE has impressed more than one his debut, it seems the GUJADHUR stable has put their hands on a gem. TROJAN QUEST seems the best of the rest.

RACE 7: ALYAASAAT

It’s no secret that ALYAASAAT is the most highly rated horse in the yard last year. He could have remained unbeaten with some luck. Also everyone knows the affection NOORESH had for this horse, he was his favorite. It would be perfect for him to win it for NOORESH, it is very likely he will do it. G.ROUSSET seems confident for the win. In this lot, he is by far the most classiest and simply better than the rest. The main danger wil be IDEAL SECRET, he is a fencer and with the plum draw he will have the run of the race. TABLE BAY won’t finish very far. VASCOSTREETRACTOR will run a good race. HAYLOR is very honest, he is closing on full fitness. 

RACE 8: JUNIPER LANE

Will the CHOIR OF ANGELS sing for NOORESH, quite possibly. He is in fine form, and will be coming at them. HAKEEM has been training very well. BREAK THE SILENCE is a promising horse, will win this year. The trip seems a bit sharp for MOSCHINO. JUNIPER LANE with the inside draw will be hard to beat. He’s been training very well and the silk of S.MAHADIA will fly high again. INAUGURATION seems to have lost his form. It’s an open race, watch where the money is in.

RACE 9: DUZNIE

Many had doubts on the handling of apprentice A.SONARAM, he proved everybody wrong with a fine ride on VALERIN and excellent on SAND PATH. DUNZIE with the claim is the one to beat even with the outside draw. MINALOUSHE VENTURE is running for the consecutive week. GO JEWEL is full of promises, one for the notebook. NEWSMAN has an outsider chance. Don’t write REAL VISION off, if there will be a surprise it will come from him. CHAP TRAP chances are limited. ARCTIC FLYER and TIME IS GOLD needs to show improvement.
